Keep Teeth Clean With A Good Quality Dry Cat Food
I’m a loving cat owner and I always endeavor to do what is best for the cat. She’s always enjoyed wet food but not long ago began to shy away from it. I wondered what was wrong… did she be suffering with a stomach upset perhaps or did she basically no longer like the taste? A visit to the vets, which coincided together with her once-a-year vaccinations concluded in the discovery that our precious moggie had gotten a significant accumulation of plaque and tartar on her teeth. Additionally, her gums became so tender they were practically on the stage of bleeding! Naturally, I was mortified. Our lovely moggie had been off her food because she was really in pain eating the stuff! So what on earth can I do to rectify the problem? Well, the veterinarian recommended that she might have her teeth cleaned tomorrow by a vet registered nurse. On the other hand, he explained that this can be traumatic for stressed cats and not something that should be done again on a regular basis.
He suggested another course of action, which if you ask me was far more straight forward and hassle-free; to change the food I had been giving from wet to dried food. Now, I’d previously considered dry cat food as an second-rate choice. After all, I don’t eat dried up meat so why should my kitty? However, apparently , a high quality dry cat food is in fact much better for the moggy than the stuff you get from a tin or aluminum foil sack. The abrasive character of dehydrated cat food actually works just like a minuscule toothbrush within your cat’s mouth.
And so, I chose a big bag of dry poultry food and headed home. I was unsure of exactly how my cat might respond but as she had received a large dose of painkillers plus a really empty stomach she barely appeared to detect the difference. In fact, she gobbled down the entire dish. I have continued her on the dried foods and have found a fantastic manufacturer that produces a product loaded full of meat (cats require larger amounts of protein than canines). Right now, when I have her teeth checked the reaction is optimistic. They’re considerably cleaner than before plus the moggie is significantly happier, consequently it’s dry food for us from today onwards.
